Indoor play for Kids in Houston

Indoor play for Kids in Houston is a necessity, not just for rainy days but also those days that are too hot. You know the days. The days you feel like the evil witch for making your kids play outside when within minutes they are beet red and drenched in sweat. This year has been an incredibly hot and humid one for us with highs reaching 110 and feels like of greater than 113. Luckily the Houston area has many places where your kids can remain active, learn and explore all in the glorious thing they call air condition.

My eleven year old has helped me comprise a list of some of the best places for indoor play for kids in Houston and has ensured me they are all kid approved. Over the years we have ventured to many indoor play places and the kids always seem to have a great time. Below are some of his favorite places. Rest assured, this information comes directly from the source.

  • Shankz
    • Located in the Woodlands, Shankz has activities for the entire family. Black light mini golf was an exciting way for the entire family to play in the AC. They also have an amazing Virtual Reality gaming system that my older one (and husband) absolutely loved. With a few arcade games Shankz is a great place with several options on those rainy days.
  • Urban Air
    • Located off of Hwy 290 near Highway 6, Urban Air is another one of my son’s favorites. Houston has several trampoline parks but Urban Air has so many different things to do. From obstacle courses, rope courses, dodgeball and even zip lining. Stay active even on those rainy days.
  • Tomball Bowling
    • Remember the days of hanging out at bowling alleys. Just like you, kids today still love the fun environment and competitive game of bowling! Like the name implies Tomball Bowling is located in the heart of Tomball. With several bowling lanes, typical bowling alley food, decent prices and an arcade your kids are sure to have a good time.
  • Children’s museum Houston
    • Just when I think my eleven year old has outgrown the Children’s museum they prove over and over again it is suitable for all ages. The indoor climbing and play areas are great to burn off some energy while several areas have experiments for all levels and ages. If the weather is nice, the outdoor water area is one of his favorites! Towing baby along? There is so much for them to see and touch that they are bound to be entertained. 9+-
  • Little Beakers
    • Does your kid love science? Little beakers is a great place to let them pretend to be scientists. With several experiments to choose from your child will learn while playing. They provide a lab coat, experiments and all supplies.
  • Monkey Joe’s Katy
    • Another day of bouncing but this time on inflatables! Several inflatable slides and obstacle courses provide plenty of options to keep your child happy. With a toddler area even the smallest of kids can have fun!
  • Houston FunPlex
    • While it can be a little overwhelming for adults the kids loved Houston Funplex. From rides, golf carts, games and so much more the activities at Funplex are never ending!
  • Dave and Busters
    • Games galore! True to its reputation Dave and Buster’s has many games for all ages.  Even adults are kept entertained. With different options for food and drinks everyone in your family is bound to find something.
  • InSpire Rock Climbing
    • Looking for a challenge? Inspire rock climbing has many walls to climb. With walls ranging in difficulty level and skill level you can climb all day (if you can last that long). Upstairs are some kid friendly walls that utilize a pulley system. For younger toddlers and babies this is not a place I would recommend as there is not much for them to do.
  • Katy Mills Mall
    • Although notably a shopping mall, Katy mills has many things for rainy days. You can start your day with the arcade and move to the single person trampolines and other small rides. Finish your day with a meal at any of the restaurants or food court and a movie at the theater.
